| Paperless DensArmor Plus Delivers Superior Moisture
Resistance |
Innovative, paperless DensArmor Plus
gypsum panels deliver superior interior protection from
moisture for your projects. Glass mat surfaces on both sides
and a moisture-resistant core (per ASTM C630 & ASTM C 1396
specifications ) make DensArmor Plus panels an ideal
replacement for paper-faced gypsum board in any interior wall
or ceiling where there is risk of moisture exposure or mold
growth. Even better, you can hang DensArmor Plus before the
building is completely dried-in.
No windows? No doors? No problem!
Hanging conventional paper-faced gypsum board before
installing doors and windows invites moisture damage and mold
growth. Not with paperless DensArmor Plus. It carries a
three-month exposure warranty against delamination,
deterioration, and decay.
Specify DensArmor Plus for basements,
bathrooms & more Mold growth on paper facings
inside walls can be a problem in damp areas such as basements
and residential bathrooms. DensArmor Plus provides a paperless
glass mat surface inside the wall cavity to resist possible
mold growth on the back of the panel. DensArmor Plus gets the
highest possible mold- resistance rating when tested as
manufactured in accordance with ASTM D 3273.
DensArmor
Plus is permeable, so it doesn’t trap moisture in wall
cavities. DensArmor Plus is a suitable replacement for
greenboard in areas that will not see moisture levels higher
than that of a residential bathroom, and is also suitable for
soffit applications where it is not exposed directly to the
elements.
Give your projects superior moisture
protection with DensArmor Plus.

| Industry Events: Greenbuild International Conference
& Expo |
November 15th - 17th, 2006. Colorado Convention
Center
The Greenbuild International Conference
& Expo is presented annually by the U.S. Green Building
Council (USGBC), a nonprofit coalition of more than 6,000
private companies, nonprofits and governmental agencies
working to transform the building industry. Throughout its
13-year history, USGBC has been at the forefront of green
building - introducing the LEED Green Building Rating System
in 2000 and launching Greenbuild in 2002.
Now in its fifth year, Greenbuild has swiftly become the
must-go event for the industry. Featuring three days of
exceptional educational programs, workshops, tours and
speakers alongside an expansive exhibit hall and sponsors (see
full schedule), it's the one place you can go to learn what's
now and what's next in green building.

| Green Design & Responsible
Renovation |
Photo: 4 Times Square, New York, N.Y.
Built at a cost of $500 million, the
environmentally friendly Condé Nast Building, pictured above,
has green written all over it. The investment seems to have
paid off. The team at FXFowle Architects is often cited as the
first to embrace sustainable design in a skyscraper of this
magnitude. In order to avoid the polluted street exhaust that
envelopes its bustling Midtown location, outside air enters
the building at 80 and 700 feet, at which point it is filtered
and monitored. The result: 50% more air circulation than New
York City regulations require.

The term sustainability can be difficult
to define for the contemporary designer / manufacturer.
Sustainability can mean social responsibility, use of
non-polluting technologies and certified materials, employment
fairness and more. Though these "manufacturing with a
conscience" ideals cannot be argued with, often they are
difficult to implement on a regular basis. To encompass these
practices we need to be responsible for the production cycle
from raw material acquisition through to manufacture, end use
and final disposal.
A green renovation means much more than
outfitting a space with recycled polyester upholstery,
FSC-certified wood, and low-VOC paints. Before designers can
even think about materials, there's the process and the
often-unseen infrastructure to consider. Doing this in an
environmentally responsible way is another challenge, but it
doesn't always mean the renovation will be more
difficult. Read More
