 The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 was enacted into law on July 26, 1990. It is the first comprehensive civil rights law for people with disabilities & protects the rights of over 54 million Americans with disabilities. Title III of the ADA covers public accommodations and commercial facilities. It requires that new and altered covered facilities be designed and constructed to be readily accessible to people with disabilities.
