Cross Alert Systems manufactures solar powered, motion activated warning systems for recreational trail/public road intersections. These systems detect trail activity and warn approaching vehicles that trail users are approaching the intersection. Vehicles calm their speed on seeing the activated lights, raising the safety profile at the intersection.

These systems communicate wirelessly, needing no wiring of any sort for installation. The radio signal carries for over 500 feet, providing an ability to provide an advance signal that can be placed up to 500 feet in front of the crossing. When poles at the crossing detect trail activity, the advance warning pole flashes in tandem, providing visibility around curves and addressing higher vehicle speeds.

An integrated trail counter provides a 2-hour count of trail use. The system can store almost a year's worth of trail count data. Data can be wirelessly downloaded to a handheld device which can then be uploaded to a PC.
