SketchUp: Creating Multiple Copies (Linear Arrays)

Process: To create multiple copies of one or more entities.

Select the Select Tool; cursor will change to an arrow.

Select the entities to be copied.

Select the Move Tool.

Press and release the Ctrl key on your keyboard. The cursor will change to an arrow with a plus sign.

Click on the selected entities/objects to copy.

Move your mouse to copy the entities. A copy of the selected entities will follow as you move your mouse.

Click at the destination point to finish your copy operation. The copied entities are now selected and the original entities are deselected.

Type a multiplier value to create additional multiple copies.

Example 1: try typing in 3x, this will prompt SketchUp to make multiple copies of the selected entities/objects and arrays them at an distance equal to first copy.

Example 2:You can divide the distance between the copy and the original by typing in a divisor value. try typing 4/ (or /4) will create four copies evenly distributed between the original and the first copy.

You can keep typing in distances and multipliers until you perform another operation.

Revit: Retrieving Hatch Pattern from AutoCAD

Process: To import desired Hatch Pattern into Revit from AutoCAD

Draw rectangle (AutoCAD), make sure this is a polyline (connected lines)

Fill rectangle with desired Hatch Pattern; make sure to scale and orient hatch as would be desired in Revit

Save rectangle and hatch. (Suggestion: Create a folder that is easily accessible through Revit, to allow for easy access at a later time; as well this will start to create a hatch library for you)

Import .dwg file into Revit

Explode newly created 2D component, which will all the pattern to be converted into a pattern (which can be found: Settings - Fill Patterns - (Pattern Type) - Model)
