On March 28, 2006 the ‘Shield’ Vertical Pivot Lift Crash Barrier obtained a K8 rating by the Department of State as a result of its demonstrated compliance with the Standards for Anti-Ram Barriers. The ‘Shield’ stopped a 15,000 lb vehicle traveling 40 MPH, totally disabling the vehicle.
The increased need for HomeLand Security raised concerns with Government and Military Officials about unauthorized access to medium & high security facilities. Facilities which if intruded upon could have severe repercussions on the ability of those facilities to continue to operate. Unauthorized access to a: Government / Military, Embassy, Airport, or Water Treatment facility have the ability to disable local and national governments. The ‘shield’ offers perimeter protection from vehicle intrusions to these types of facilities.
