VERSA-LOK INTRODUCES BRONCO FOR SUPERSIZE RETAINING WALLS
When you’ve got a landscaping job that requires a colossal-size segmental retaining wall (SRW), call for Bronco, the new heavyweight wall system from VERSA-LOK. Weighing in at about 4,500 pounds and displaying 14 square feet of face area, Bronco has the heft and coverage to tackle any job you can throw at it.
Bronco builds walls up to 10 feet tall without soil reinforcement, making it ideal for projects with excavation constraints. And with a unique four-panel, natural-stone appearance, Bronco is the most attractive random-pattern large-block SRW system available.
“This is an exciting product for landscape
architects and engineers,” says
Bronco is wet-cast using approximately 1.25 cubic yards of concrete per unit. It’s installed in much the same way as traditional retaining wall systems. No concrete footings are required; all that’s needed is an 8-inch leveling pad of granular road-base material. Voids are filled with drainage aggregate.
No special tools are required for installation. Steel cable "pick rings" are cast into the top and back of the unit for easy placement using appropriate lifting equipment. Alignment knobs molded into the top of units and channels molded into the bottom ensure correct near-vertical positioning and allow for tight, variable-bond construction. Cap units are designed to allow for landscaping to the face of the wall at the top. After installation, the natural-stone wall face may be stained for a permanent, maintenance-free finish.
“Bronco will revolutionize the way landscape architects and engineers approach large-block segmental retaining walls,” says Johnson. “No longer do you have to choose between high performance and good looks in a supersize wall. Bronco delivers both.”
