Weathered wood countertops are accomplished by applying our custom oil finish in one of four colors to white oak. This is a domestic hardwood used widely in furniture and cabinetry. A widespread native tree, white oak is a wholly sustainable wood. The natural pale honey color of this species lends itself well to the aging treatment. The fairly open grain allows the color to penetrate and accent the patterns of the heart and sapwood beautifully. Weathered wood countertops add a softened, aged appeal to a traditional kitchen design. In a contemporary kitchen weathered wood is a clean, light surface to complement stone and steel. The four shades range from a cool frosted effect to a warmer tone, all mellowed to a subtly aged finish.
