Teak Countertops

Teak is a hardwood species native to Southeast Asia but now widely grown on plantations throughout the tropics. This sustainability makes it an attractive choice from a green point of view. This exotic hardwood has long been held as the gold standard for rot resistance and used in boat building and high end outdoor furniture. Midway along the Janka scale for hardness it’ll make a highly durable kitchen counter or island top whether for food prep or serving. Teak is a clear grained, golden brown color. Age deepens and enriches the appearance. The complement of lighter sapwood and the darker heartwood creates an interesting pattern. This combining with the warmth of the coloring makes a striking statement in any kitchen.
