Hydrotech has developed products, systems and alliances that reflect their commitment to environmental sustainability. Along with producing one of the industry's best performing membranes, Hydrotech has also introduced some of the industry's most sustainable waterproofing assemblies. For instance, Hydrotech's MM6125®EV (environmental grade formulation) is a hot-applied rubberized asphalt that can be formulated with up to 25% post consumer recycled content. Monolithic Membrane 6125, the foundation for all their assemblies, helps generate LEED® points on projects around the country each and every day. Hydrotech assemblies feature recycled content in the membrane and reduced lifecycle cots due to project longevity (which also reduces its impact on landfills). In addition, the Ultimate Assembly® delivers energy savings through reflective pavers, while their Garden Roof® Assembly delivers storm water management capabilities.
VAST helps projects earn LEED® certification easier than any other pavement. Made from 95% recycled materials, VAST® Composite Pavers can outperform other pavers, such as concrete pavers with fly ash, by more than ten times. VAST composite pavers can provide significant contribution in the following LEED credit areas: 4.1, 4.2 - Recycled Content (MR Credit; 6.1, 6.2 - Stormwater Design (SS Credit; 5.1, 5.2 - Regional Materials (MR Credit);7.1 - Heat Island Effect (SS Credit) — Coming Soon.
Eco-Roofs’ Standard and AGR™ green roof systems are tray or modular systems with an emphasis on green roof technology. The modular approach when compared to the traditional built-in-place and intensive style of green roof is much lighter, faster and easier to install. The Eco-Roofs system has improved on what most modular systems have done by making the standard module one that arrives on the rooftop with 95% or more already established vegetative cover.
Compare the cost of green roofing with conventional roofing systems! Interested in green roofing but not sure how to determine its long-term costs and benefits, especially compared to traditional roofs? Stop wondering. Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) with support from Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance and the Athena Institute, are proud to bring you the GreenSave Calculator, specifically designed to help professionals concerned with sustainability. The GreenSave Calculator was developed by GRHC and the Athena Institute with funding by Tremco.
The soil in green roof systems acts like a sponge and absorbs excess rain water. Research has shown that extensive green roof systems can reduce runoff by up to 90+% annually (varies with climate, soil and pitch of roof). Green roofs reduce the impact of each new building on the municipal storm drainage system and surrounding watershed. They reduce flooding, erosion and artificial heating of water which helps preserve fisheries and other aquatic life. Green roofs reduce the need for on-site storm water management systems and according to Seattle based Magnusson Klemencic Associates, under certain conditions, can offset the cost of a green roof by 30 to 60%. When combined with an effective rain garden (bioswale), green roofs can make it possible to have zero discharge of rainwater from the site, therefore saving money by not having to connect to the storm sewer system. The LiveRoof® System can help you achieve LEED certification in several categories.
