As natives of the Sonoran Desert, Kornegay Design are uniquely aware of the sensitive relationship between their business practices and the surrounding environment. Kornegay Design is committed to minimizing their water usage during production and to recycling all office and production waste products. At Kornegay Design, they work together to minimize waste and recycle whenever possible.They recycle all concrete waste, concrete bags, sand and office materials. Despite their continued growth, they have reduced their waste by 50% since 2007.

Sustainability, especially environmental sustainability, is the key to Thomas Steele products. The steel used to manufacture their bike racks and site furnishings is produced in the United States using the basic oxygen furnace process. Recycled content, especially post-consumer recycled content, is an important feature of many green products. Thomas Steele stainless steel bike racks are made of up to 90% recycled material. One Walden recycled plastic bench contains the equivalent of 750 recycled plastic milk jugs! Their recycled plastic consists of high-density polyethylene material (HDPE), also made from post-consumer recycled plastic. The material is graffiti and ultraviolet (UV) resistant and is ideal for outdoor use.

Westminster Teak has made their company’s policy to source their teak wood from well managed, credibly certified forests. Their factory was the first to join Nusa Hijau, the Indonesian Chapter of the Global Forest Trade Network (GFTN), an initiative of WWF®(World Wildlife Fund) to eliminate illegal logging and improve the management of valuable and threatened forests. They purchase wood only from Perum Perhutani, the government-managed plantation that promotes biodiversity and the livelihoods of the people that depend on them. And, because it is the only source in their supply chain for wood base material, they have 100% transparency; they know exactly where all their lumber comes from for every component of their furniture; from the forest-floor to retail floor.
