Ametco powder coating process is solvent free. The powder is formulated using finley ground pigments and resins with zero solvents resulting in a clean air finish and next to zero VOCs. The electrostatic powder to substrate process equates to very little overspray, of which 98% can be retrieved and reused. This would qualify for LEED points only if it is used indoors. Ametco is continuing to work on improving their product line. These changes may increase the LEED points your project can earn.
Arcadia System is made in the U.S.A. from strong, recycled aluminum. In addition to being made from recyclables though, they are powered by discreet self-sustaining solar panels. These panels will help harvest the power to run the motor that opens and closes the louvers via remote control. Since the panels are self-sustaining, the entire unit operates separate from your home’s electricity and won’t add to your electricity bills. You may even save money on power bills with the temperature control you gain via passive solar heating and cooling.
Recycling aluminum, of course, saves bauxite, saves on the disposing of scrap aluminum, and conserves energy. Remelting scrap to produce new aluminum takes less than 5% of the energy needed to make metal from bauxite. Cardinal Architectural WeatherGuard Systems recycles 100% of its scrap through the foundries of local recyclers and uses recycled aluminum on all its painted and anodized matte finishes.
METALCO sustainable energy and manufacturing process: The greatest attention is given to the ecology, specifically through: the use of wood from certified forests that are managed fairly and responsibly; 100% recyclable products in every component; energy demands completely covered by their own photovoltaic system installed on the roof of their building. Metalco avoids emitting around 5,000 tones of CO2 into the atmosphere each year, equivalent to the consumption of 300 homes.
With their roots in the landscape and a stated purpose to “Enrich Outdoor Spaces,” Landscape Forms has a special relationship to the natural environment. By employing recycled materials and wood from managed forests (including wood with FSC Chain of Custody Certification upon request), adopting environmentally sustainable processes, producing products that are also recyclable, and implementing energy efficient systems and the use of “green” products in their facility, Lanscape Forms Inc. meets their customers’ expectation for high-design, high-quality products that also help them meet their sustainable goals.
As part of their commitment to sustainable communities, Landscape Structures has partnered with Global ReLeaf®, a program of American Forests, to plant trees around the globe to offset the carbon produced in the manufacturing of our playstructures. These include PlayBooster®, PlayShaper®, PlaySense® and Evos™.
