In 2007, three business partners and friends from the restaurant world created a vision for the "Ultimate Beer Bar." They recognized the explosive growth in the craft beer market and appreciated the simplicity of operating a beer bar verses a full service restaurant and began creating The Brass Tap. In October 2008, The Brass Tap's ?rst location opened in the Shoppes at Wiregrass in Wesley Chapel, Florida and was soon followed by a second location in the Brandon Town Center in Brandon, Florida in October 2010. They currently have 14 locations.

Their desire was to create a great outdoor environment for dining and have a great time with their friends. They did not want something that would require a lot of maintenance or replacement in a few years. They wanted to be able to have sunshine and yet protection from the rain and hot sun in the Summer. They needed something that could handle high wind loads. The last issue was the need to incorporate the existing palm trees that were on the patio.

The WeatherGuard Motorized Pergola incorporated the existing palm trees and was constructed to handle hurricane strength winds. The pergola was designed in two operating sections allowing them to have one section open and one section closed therefore appealing to the desire of more patrons.

The Brass Tap quickly found that the new motorized pergola created a perfect environment for large groups to hang outside while they tasted the many craft beers they offer. It was not long after the patio opened they had new customers come and cited
