Sweeny Park in Boston had experienced vandalism on their playground equipment for several years. Recent problems even included arson, so it was important for the neighborhood that the new solution was vandalism proof, secure and more open. A neighborhood playground committee was established. Their mission was to make the new playground so appealing, secure, vandalism resistant and open that it would last for many years to come to the benefit of children in the neighborhood.

Planning The Project

The committee contacted their local KOMPAN Play Consultant and a new solution was developed, meeting the expectations and demands of the committee. For this project, KOMPAN suggested a Corocord solution, which is highly resistant to vandalism. Corocord ropes are strong and durable, and the solution is a difficult target for graffiti. It’s a product that has proved itself in many places around the world. The solution fully lived up to demands from the neighborhood playground committee at Sweeny Park and Ryan Woods, Director of External Affairs from Boston Parks & Recreation Department, says that “the playground is now a fun and safe space for Boston’s residents and visitors to enjoy.”
