Antique European Cobblestone – Sandstone
While measuring just behind porphyry on Mohs hardness scale, sandstone is still considered a resistant, durable rock. Our sandstone cobbles were quarried in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries in the Wallonia region of Belgium. These Belgian cobbles have been used throughout the world—from Moscow’s Red Square to New York’s Times Square. They present a generally smooth, well-worn top face. Colors vary from brown-over-gray, to earthy greens to muted lavenders. They are usually available in both squares and rectangles, with a depth of either half-bed or thin (though full-bed is available by special order only).
Approximate Dimensions:
Rectangles: 5” x 8”
Squares: 6” x 6”
Thins: 1.5” thick
Half Bed: 3” thick
Full Bed: 6” thick
