Wenge is one of the hardest woods available. Dark, deep brown which looks nearly black when sealed, its an exotic and beautiful choice to make a statement in any decor. The fairly coarse grain and extremely dark color sets wenge apart from most other hardwoods. It’s a showstopper for sure. Coming from equatorial Africa, this wood is considered to be endangered. Much of the available stock has been harvested for a long while. This factor in conjunction with the difficulty in working wenge makes it a premium choice price wise.
