Perisphere Bench
A tribute to the iconic New York City park bench designed by Robert Moses and Kenneth Lynch for the 1939 World's Fair, Perisphere is a 21st century re-imagining of a 20th century urban icon. Designed by James Corner Field Operations — the renowned New York landscape architecture studio behind the High Line — for design partner Santa & Cole Urbidermis. Perisphere captures the character of the original design while bringing new levels of functionality, ergonomic appeal, and durability. The signa-ture curve of its arms gives Perisphere a presence that is at once robust and stylized. Standing alone, it is a bench designed for individual use, but when conjoined it can create benches and banquettes of various compositions, with or without backrests. This truly modular capability makes Perisphere at-home in both intimate gardens and busy public spaces.
