Sound Attenuation: Treadstone® Elite

Typical acoustical mats require mechanical fastening during the installation process to reduce wrinkling and bubbling during the underlayment application. Every fastener used compresses the mat and provides a direct contact point between the underlayment and the floor assembly, reducing acoustical performance after installation.  Treadstone Elite lays flat during installation, eliminating the need for the use of mechanical fasteners.

Treadstone Elite delivers industry-leading compression resistance and acoustical performance when installed over the most commonly specified flooring assembly in multi-family construction. No need for additional insulation, deeper trusses, or backed flooring. In fact, the data posted above was from an independent test utilizing unbacked 2.5 mm vinyl as the flooring choice. In a typical specification, the only change you will need to make is the addition of Treadstone Elite.

Treadstone Elite requires 20,000 psf to achieve just a millimeter of compression. This incredible compression resistance makes Treadstone Elite the best choice available to pair today’s thinner vinyl flooring selections. Truth be told, the structure will probably suffer before the underlayment does.
