Georgia Precast Solutions (GPS) manufactures “wet cast” precast concrete hardscape and landscape furnishings. GPS provided custom precast units for the new, 2-acre Town Green for the City of Avondale Estates. The development includes a 300-person outdoor amphitheater, playground, stage, and space for small private events to community wide celebrations.

The landscape architect, Site Solutions, designed a 233-foot radial seat wall in two-foot segments to surround an open, synthetic grass area in the amphitheater. The radial seat wall returns to the stage plinths and radial stairs, leading up to a large stage.

GPS’ radial seat walls were also used as a cover on a planter and sculpture base along with a fountain surround. An off-white color with light sandblast finish texture was selected to refract heat for more comfortable seating during warmer months.

Careful attention was given to transitions between seat walls and stair treads, railing set points, plinths, and granite walls. Precast stair treads help to provide easier access to different sections of the park. LED tap lights, installed at the base of the radial segments, illuminate the wall area for safer access at night.
