Project Details

Location
Long Beach, CA, USA

In an area dominated by high rises, Long Beach’s Lincoln Park gives community members a chance to get outside and exercise in the fresh air. With the fitness zone chosen to serve community members of all ability levels, it’s a great way for neighbors to mingle in a public space as they exercise. The custom two-tone blue hues of the fitness equipment echoes the colors of the ocean blocks away.

The outdoor fitness equipment is a mixture of the patented Signature Accessible (patent 9,079,069), Functional Fitness, and Legacy Series units.

The three Signature Accessible units at Lincoln Park allow people in wheelchairs to work out alongside family members and friends in the open air. These machines are designed to both strengthen the upper body muscles used to propel manual wheelchairs, and also exercise the reverse muscles to help prevent injuries. With this equipment, more people in the community are able to be reached.

The 3-Person Static Combo can be used by three people simultaneously, and it strengthens upper back, shoulders, biceps, and core. This Functional Fitness unit offers many exercises, but a few are dips, assisted squats, pull-ups, stretching, incline leg raises, incline sit-ups.

The Legacy Series units round out the project. These four machines are either resistance-free or leverage body-weight resistance. They include units that work the lower body, back and arms, and legs through cardio.

Take a walk in this urban oasis, soak up the sunshine, and enjoy the benefits of outdoor exercise.
