Basho, a Japanese brasserie, was opened in May 2010 in Boston’s busy Fenway neighborhood. Located on Boylston Street close to Fenway Park, the owners wanted to create an outdoor dining space that connected their guests to the popular neighborhood. Two large folding wall systems were installed on the front of the restaurant allowing for guests to enjoy the sights and sounds of the bustling area on a hot summer’s day or after a Boston Red Sox baseball game.

The screens they selected stop diners from freely walking in and out of the dining area and also keeps the open-air restaurant in line with local health codes. According to the architect, “one of the main reasons for specifying Phantom’s retractable screens was the option of choosing screens that allowed to cover 22 foot openings.”
