The architect at MAI Studio sought-after Eide Industries, Inc. for assistance with a Converging Retractable Canopy System with horizontal support frame above the existing trellis patio structure at the Baltaire Restaurant in Los Angeles, California. Eide provided the design-refinement, fabrication and installation of two low-profile 42′ long center steel rafters; a custom gutter system with perimeter flashing and down-spouts; and aluminum slide on track framing to the existing trellis. Flame-retardant, white Serge Ferrari STAM 6002 fabric was used to cover six independently motorized retractable roof sections with an overall coverage area of 2,268 square feet (42′-0″ x 54′-0″). The owners of the Baltaire Restaurant were very pleased with the 95% waterproof Retractable Canopy Roof System that created an inviting outdoor atmosphere for fine dining and private event functions.
