The Retractable Structures division of Eide Industries, Inc. was contacted by HKS Architects to build a motorized fabric canopy system to compliment and expand the outdoor dining area for the Lemon Grove Restaurant in the heart of Hollywood, California. Located on the rooftop of The Aster, a private members club and boutique hotel, the Lemon Grove is open-to-public reservations and features spectacular views of the iconic Capitol Records Building and world famous Hollywood Sign.

Eide engineered and fabricated a structural steel frame designed to withstand 94 MPH wind loads. The canopy structure has a total coverage area of 1,420 square feet and includes four bays designed to accommodate the top cover’s retracting and tensioning systems. Four Corradi Impact motorized hardware units were utilized to attach flame-retardant Serge Ferrari Soltis Proof W96 fabric membranes. These membranes span a width of 12 feet and have a maximum projection of 29 feet and 6 inches.

Eide’s in-house capabilities successfully designed, fabricated, and installed the Retractable Fabric Canopy System for this rooftop hotspot allowing everyone to enjoy a bit of the glamorous Hollywood history, views, lifestyle and passion.
