RINKER MATERIALS® DELIVERS STORMWATER MANAGEMENT TO EXPANDED DHL FACILITY

DHL delivers more than 1.3 million packages internationally each year, making it one of the largest couriers and logistics companies in the world. To more effectively serve customers in Dallas-Fort Worth and the surrounding area, DHL recently upgraded its facility in Fort Worth, Texas with the addition of two new warehouses. A stormwater management system was constructed using reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) and reinforced concrete box culverts (RCB) produced by Rinker Materials® to accommodate rain events on the DHL site moving forward.

Designed by engineering firm Kimley Horn & Associates and installed by Conatser Construction, the drainage system features about 3,000 linear feet of ASTM C76 rated RCP ranging in diameter from 18” to 30”, and about 2,500 linear feet of ASTM C1577 rated 5’ x 3’ and 6’ x 3’ RCB. A variety of wyes, 45-degree and 90-degree bends, and 48” manholes completed the system. While the annual rainfall of 37” is only slightly above the national average of 40”, the stormwater management system will be tested each spring when the region is frequently exposed to severe thunderstorms, hurricanes and tornadoes.
