The Portland Parks and Recreation wanted to create a beautiful restroom that would match another new building being added to the Leach Botanical Garden in Portland, Oregon.

Romtec delivered a unique two-unit restroom that fit the needs of Portland Parks and Recreation which was also ADA-accessible and complimented this wonderful garden and its history.

John and Lilla Leach bought the 17-acre property on the historic Johnson Creek located in Southeast Portlandin the early 1930s and began planting and landscaping the land that was eventually given to the City of Portland as a botanical park and museum. There is a stone cabin and a manor house also located at the garden which was called “Sleepy Hollow”. The Leach Botanical Garden includes trails, a leach collection, a tree walk, a pollinator garden, and rock garden along with a footbridge that crosses Johnson Creek.

The garden was acquired by the City of Portland in 1972 and the mission of the garden is to maintain and enhance living collections of plants for education, research, and conservation.

The key features in the Romtec Model 2022 restroom include a single pitch roof with corrugated metal roofing and custom Accoya siding that matched another new structure being built at the same location. The restroom also includes a mechanical room on the backside of the structure.

The landscape architect was Land Morphology, Inc. while Romtec’s Construction Crew, Perry's Precision Concrete, was the general contractor who installed the restroom building on behalf of Portland Parks and Recreation.
