In the Memorial Facility Improvements project, Romtec supplied and constructed 7 custom structures to suit the needs of the Memorial County Park in Loma Mar, California. With Romtec’s design-build services, the Park has undergone an incredible upgrade project to improve the infrastructure at the campgrounds in honor of the Park’s 100th anniversary in 2024.

Memorial County Park is a heavily forested park with a large wilderness retreat amongst the towering redwoods. For their improvements project, San Mateo County chose Romtec for the design-build of seven new combination restroom/shower buildings to be placed at several campgrounds. As a part of our design-build services, Romtec handled the site civil design, electrical design, demolition of existing structures, site preparation, and the supply and construction of the seven custom structures.

Each combination restroom/shower structure includes facilities for multiple users with individual showers and restrooms for privacy, and mechanical rooms for easy maintenance access to the plumbing. The new construction also features American Disability Act (ADA) compliant restrooms and showers to allow guests of all abilities to utilize the amenities.

The matching design-build structures are composed of a smooth face grey block with a stone veneer wainscot and board &batten siding, and are distributed through the Sequoia Flat, Tan Oak Flat, Wurr Flat, and Redwood Flat campsites. During the improvements, and throughout the pandemic, the park was kept closed and Romtec worked hard and fast to finish construction for the park’s reopening in the Spring of 2021.

The completion of the Memorial Facility Improvements design-build project by Romtec and our own construction crew has given guests amenities for a more comfortable and clean stay at the park, and provided structures to honor the Parks 100th anniversary in 2024. The custom restroom/shower buildings will be a welcome addition to the park for both new and returning guests and will allow guests to stay longer and connect deeper with the peaceful forest environment.
