In the Rose Park project, the Romtec supplied custom building is, without a doubt, impressive. This building features a covered breezeway, which functions as the entrance to the splash park, combination bathroom/shower rooms (each with an ADA shower stall), two separate “family” bathrooms, two additional ADA restrooms, a guard room, a concession stand, a janitor room, a mechanical room, and even additional rooms for storage. Along with the main structure, Romtec also provided the design and supply of two identical timber pavilions to the park.

Purchased by the Waukegan Park District in Illinois, this restroom/concession building services a “Splash Pad” water playground located at the Corrine J. Rose Park. This park, formerly known as the Belvidere Park, features a three-story traditional playground, 2 basketball courts, a baseball field, outdoor volleyball, tennis courts, and even ice skating in the winter seasons. At 29.7 acres in total, this all-encompassing park has amenities for visitors of all ages.

The Romtec Rose Park structure is composed of split face gray block with a stone wainscot around the entirety of the building. A covered breezeway cuts down the center of the building, separating the men’s and women’s facilities and allowing easy access to the “family” restrooms. Inside the restrooms, the showers and bathroom stalls are enclosed by laminate partitions to allow for privacy, and the ADA showers have hand-held shower heads for ease of use.

The concession stand has roll-up doors for easy open and close of the stand and provides a large window for customers to purchase snacks and drinks on their day out at the splash park. FRP Panels line the inside of the concession stand for a finished look that is easy to clean and maintain.

The guard room sits at the front of the building, next to the concession stand and in front of the entrances to the restrooms. A vinyl Style Line horizontal sliding window with Suncoat Low-E/Energy Saving Glass allows the guard to see the area and the guests, and opens for easy communication between the guard and guests at the park.

The Waukegan Park district put forth enormous amounts of time, effort, and money to revitalize the Corrine J. Rose Park and make it a destination for families and more. Romtec would like to thank the Waukegan Parks and Team Reil, who constructed the Romtec restroom at the park, for the investment into the community. This park is sure to be a family favorite for years to come.
