Green Pea is the world’s first, Green Retail Center in Turin, Italy fully built and designed around the concept of Sustainability. Belonging to the world famous EATALY chain, this landmark project is located next to the iconic Lingotto Building, the historic automotive car factory turned into a multi-functional center containing a hotel, a museum, cinemas and music theatres, conference halls, shopping center, all under the landmark roof which houses a 1 mile long car track previously used for quality testing, and now also home to the world’s longest roof garden.

Green Pea opened its doors in 2020, built with eco-friendly materials and sustainable structures and energy sources. The four floors are home to high quality, innovative Italian companies & brands that have sustainability at the core of their business model. The top floor is home to the exclusive Otium Pea Club that combines an extensive roof terrace with a bar & restaurant, gym, sauna, meeting rooms and a spectacular, transparent swimming pool.

The original decision to cover the roof terrace garden with natural grass however, quickly turned out to be a highly problematic, costly and unsustainable choice. Muddy with rainfall, burned with Italian sunshine and permanently marked spots where furniture was situated, management was all too happy when Roofingreen stepped in as a replacement.

LEAF tiles were simply installed on the existing layers of compacted sand & earth. The effect was immediate; clients could finally make full use of and relax on the green surfaces available. Besides happy customers, the organization also sharply reduced out-of-control maintenance costs and excessive water usage.
