Overlooking the Occidental Winery on the slope below, the Occidental Tasting Room and Offices have a residential scale, to reflect the more intimate and reflective purpose - as a backdrop for the appreciation of great pinot noir and the vineyards from which it originates.

With the wall of the forest behind, the tasting room overlooks the the surrounding vineyards to the distant rolling hills, with a glimpse of the Pacific Ocean on clear days. A series of rugged, partial height concrete walls create a spring point for the floating pitched roofs, that lift up toward the forest wall.

Our Spark fireplace is captured within a freestanding concrete portal, with integral lighting and an inset panel of native stone both inside and out. The solidity of the fireplace portal creates a warm and inviting inglenook — an anchor that contrasts with the glassy transparency of the tasting room.
