The Facility

The Gateway Ice Centre's state-of-the-art facility accommodates up to 3000 spectators. It is home to three ice rinks, a nutrition and fitness centre, an ultra-modern Sports store, and Sports Grill.

The Heating Challenge

Keeping spectators warm and comfortable while enjoying events and hockey games as well as melting the snow form the Zamboni area.

Implementation

Gateway Ice Centre contacted SRP looking for a solution to keep spectators warm and comfortable in both seating and standing areas, while providing a warm connecting area and corridor to properly de-ice the Zambonis.

SRP's Canadian Sales Manager, Gary Dummer worked with our local rep to design and implement an energy solution that would keep spectators warm and comfortable during events, also providing the corridor area with a flexible and effective way to melt the ice and evaporate the water.

• Two stage heaters were installed in the seating area, standing, and connecting areas.
• A single stage heater was installed in the corridor area.

Results

When SRP’s representative visited the Gateway Ice Centre to follow up on how the heaters were performing, he received positive reviews on the efficiency of the heaters and how SRP's heating systems were able to exceed the Gateway Ice Centre heating challenges.
