Wichita State University’s Innovation Campus, which is a physical extension of the Wichita State University main campus, is one of the nation’s largest and fastest-growing research/innovation parks, encompassing over 120 acres, and is home to a number of global companies and organizations. NetApp Inc. built its new facility on the Innovation Campus to secure its place in the city’s growing innovation economy and further tie the company to the community. The investment directly links NetApp and the future technology leaders attending the school.
NetApp Wichita is a new 168,000 SF office and research facility that required all the creativity and coordination of multiple disciplines within MKEC. NetApp Inc. requested unique, highly aesthetic, sustainable, and functional outdoor amenity spaces for employees and public use. The project specification included detailed hardscapes, landscapes, and water use throughout their campus space.
AMENITIES INCLUDE:
- A large plaza area
- Walking paths, smaller personal-type space opportunities
- Integrated water features (bioswales, large water basin, runnel, waterfalls, and a reflection pool)
- Bridges, pedestrian, and landscape accent lighting
- A sports court
The extensive landscape comprises a native and adaptable plan composed of 110 trees, 600 shrubs, and over 27,000 ornamental grasses/perennials. MKEC provided civil engineering, survey, landscape architecture, and electrical engineering services for this new NetApp location.
