About L.M. Scofield Company:
In 1915 Lynn Mason Scofield, an engineer and inventor in Chicago, introduced the first successful products for coloring, staining and protecting concrete. His proprietary system made concrete not only more beautiful but more durable as well. The L. M. Scofield Company was born.
Scofield's headquarters moved from Chicago to Los Angeles during the period when California's architects favored Early Modern, Spanish influenced styles, Art Nouveau and Art Deco. The original Chemstain was a favorite.
