Project Narrative: Riverview Park Solar Lighting Initiative 

City of North Augusta, South Carolina 

Project Context and Objectives 

• Riverview Park is a 149-acre central recreational complex in North Augusta, South Carolina, widely recognized for hosting the prestigious EYBL Nike Peach Jam—an annual amateur basketball recruiting showcase attracting thousands of visitors. 

• Concerned about visitor safety during evening hours due to inadequate lighting across parking lots, roads, and playgrounds, the City prioritized a comprehensive outdoor lighting solution. 

• The goal was to improve nighttime visibility without disrupting park operations or incurring high energy and installation costs. 

Site-Specific Challenges 

• High-Traffic Public Venue 

o The park is in active use year-round, requiring minimal disruption during installation and immediate lighting impact upon completion. 

• Visitor Safety 

o Inadequate lighting posed safety concerns for families, athletes, and spectators using the park after dusk. 

• Infrastructure Constraints 

o Traditional wired lighting was deemed too costly and complex due to the scale of the park and absence of existing underground conduits.
