Commercial Shade Structures In Orange County: In celebration of winning the Wyland National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation, the City of Westminster sought out to design a water smart conservation garden at Coronet Park.

The Challenge

With the intense California sunshine, the Wyland Foundation needed a suitable commercial shade structure to provide garden visitors relief from the sun and complement the garden's sustainable design. The challenge was to transform an area that contained more than 5,000 sf of grass and consumed over 235,000 gallons of water annually into a more environmentally sustainable space. The new space needed to continue serving as a public gathering space for the local community.

Our Solution

The solution was to create an outdoor garden utilizing a mixture of water-conservation ideas including drought-tolerant, California native plants, enhanced irrigation, and water capture systems. Zoom Recreation's design team also selected a 10' x 10', Cantilever Shade that was both functional and amalgamated into the sustainable design. Through a combination of annual water-cost savings and available rebates the community gained an economically feasible and beautiful garden area to congregate and enjoy!
