The Best Playgrounds In Phoenix: After nearly two years, we completed an outdoor amenities area for our clients newly constructed center in Gilbert.

The Challenge

Certainly the toughest obstacles we worked through on this job occurred during installation. We were required to work around a previously undisclosed storm pipe that would have been in direct contact with the location of the Sail Shade posts. In addition, the sealed engineered drawings called for pier footers however because this footer type would have come into contact with a planned sidewalk, an adjustment was required.

Our Solution

The solution to these challenges involved working together with our engineering team, design team and the client to assess our options and determine the best path forward. We confirmed that moving the shade posts slightly in would allow us to not only avoid the storm pipe line but also avoid any delays with new sealed drawings. Pier footers were changed to spread footers to avoid possible conflict with the planned sidewalk. This meant hand digging for a larger footing and over double the amount of concrete originally estimated.
