Commercial Shade Structures And Playground Equipment: The Goddard School Verrado is a child care facility focused on early childhood development. We were able to transform the play environment at the school with our Grounds For Play commercial playground equipment line.

The Challenge

The challenge of this project was to create a playground design that encourages social, emotional, language, cognitive, and physical skill development through the four pillars of play. The design included a stage, freestanding art and imaginative play equipment, playhouse and trike track encircling the area. As we undertook this job, we encountered several obstacles to bringing this project to life including scheduling this into a booked out calendar during our peak season. Our Grounds for Play Log Benches each weigh around 600 pounds and could not be unloaded with a skid steer as it would have damaged freshly installed turf. We also had to work around irrigation lines and not being able to drive over the turf or a thin concrete pad.

Our Solution

We chose to implement our Grounds For Play line into this new design to cater to the early childhood development needs of the young children. Our crew committed to finding a way to make this project happen, even if this meant working overtime or through a weekend. We mobilized a crew of 6 to haul each of three benches individually. We capped the irrigation lines and used plywood to drive over the turf without damaging it. We were able to finish the playground equipment installation just in time for the start of the school’s busy season, with children returning to school from summer break.
