Commercial Playground Equipment: We collaborated with YWCA of Greater Los Angeles to enhance and maximize their current play area with new commercial playground equipment, showcasing a successful revitalization of their existing play space.

The Challenge

Due to stringent Los Angeles Building and Safety permitting requirements, we confronted some challenges during the design stage of the project that forced us to pivot from our original playground installation plan slightly in order to stay within the building code requirements for the site.

Our Solution

To address Los Angeles Building and Safety's mandated clearances, we strategically downsized the commercial shade structure to below 500 square feet, minimizing required clearances. Additionally, we incorporated a innovative bicycle storage area to meet parking requirements resulting from the extra square footage, providing a practical workaround as site expansion for additional parking was unfeasible.
